چکیده

Dear Editor, Patients with acute renal failure due to pauci-immune necrotizing and crescentic glomerulonephritis with antinuclear antibody (ANCA) seropositivity can present with positive lupus serologies.1 On the other hand, patients with lupus nephritis present with ANCA seroconversion in 20% of cases. The fact that systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and positive myeloperoxidase (MPO) ANCA titers with kidney involvement can present with scant subendothelial deposits in the kidney biopsy, may suggest a forme fruste of lupus nephritis or a concomitant renal vasculitis with neutrophil priming.

Necrotizing and crescentic lupus nephritis with antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody seropositivity.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Lupus nephritis is a classic immune complex glomerulonephritis. In contrast, antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies are associated with necrotizing and crescentic glomerulonephritis, in the absence of significant immune deposits. Antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies are detected by indirect immunofluorescence in 20% of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus. We rep...

Anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody vasculitis presenting with bilateral renal vein thrombosis

We report a case of anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated necrotizing crescentic glomerulonephritis presenting with bilateral renal vein thrombosis and pulmonary emboli in a patient who also had a lupus anticoagulant and anti-cardiolipin antibodies. Although the link between venous thrombosis and ANCA vasculitis is well established, the coexistence of renal vein thrombosis is u...

Necrotizing and crescentic glomerulonephritis with membranous nephropathy in a patient exposed to levamisole-adulterated cocaine

Levamisole is an antihelminthic agent widely used as an adulterant of illicit cocaine recently implicated as a cause of antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated microscopic polyangiitis in cocaine abusers. An isolated case of membranous nephropathy (MN) associated with levamisole exposure has also been reported. We report the first case, to our knowledge, of a patient with both mic...

Glomerular capillary and endothelial cell injury is associated with the formation of necrotizing and crescentic lesions in crescentic glomerulonephritis.

BACKGROUND The associations of glomerular capillary and endothelial injury with the formation of necrotizing and crescentic lesions in cases of crescentic glomerulonephritis (GN) have not been evaluated in detail. METHODS Glomerular capillary and endothelial cell injury were assessed in renal biopsy specimens of crescentic GN, including those from patients with anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic aut...

Pauci-Immune Necrotizing and Crescentic Glomerulonephritis with Membranous Lupus Nephritis, Fifteen Years after Initial Diagnosis of Secondary Membranous Nephropathy

Renal involvement in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is usually immune complex mediated and may have multiple different presentations. Pauci-immune necrotizing and crescentic glomerulonephritis (NCGN) refers to extensive glomerular inflammation with few or no immune deposits that may result in rapid decline in renal function. We report a case of a 79-year-old Hispanic male with a history of ...
